Tulsa’s Camara named to 2018 IRA All-Academic Team

TULSA–Tulsa rower Sophia Camara was named to the 2018 Intercollegiate Rowing Association All-Academic Team, as announced today by the IRA Board of Stewards.

Camara, who was a junior on the rowing team this season, maintains a 3.342 cumulative GPA in business management.  She rowed in 10 regattas on the year, including the IRA National Championship where she raced a Lightweight 2x.  Camara was also a member of the Varsity 8+, which earned a silver medal at the American Athletic Conference Championship, was tabbed as The American Boat of the Year, and twice picked up Boat of the Week accolades throughout the season.

To be eligible for recognition a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35 or higher, completed one full year at their institution (freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible), be an institutional letter winner and also competed at the 2018 IRA National Championship Regatta.  In all, 302 student-athletes from 28 member institutions were recognized.

Earlier this week, 29 of TU’s 40 rowers were tabbed to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team for 72.5-percent of the roster earning a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
