TULSA– The University of Tulsa men’s soccer team defeated the SIUE Cougars 3-0 in an exhibition contest Saturday evening at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
Early in the 14th minute, sophomore midfielder Chase Bromstedt put the Golden Hurricane on top 1-0 with a one-timer from 12-yards out.
Bromstedt’s goal was scored from a cross into the box by fellow sophomore Thomas Wells. Junior midfielder Harris Partain then controlled the ball, laying it off to Bromstedt who slotted it past the goalkeeper.
The second first-half goal came in the 33rd minute by way of Partain, who beat the keeper and scored on an open net. Senior forward Juan Sanchez played a through ball that allowed Partain a one-on-one situation with the SIUE goalkeeper.
The final TU goal came in the 72nd minute, in which junior forward Miguel Velasquez brought down a free ball and struck it into the bottom corner for the goal.
The Golden Hurricane finished the game with a massive 16-3 shot advantage, 10 of which were on goal. Partain led the way for Tulsa with six shots, while Velasquez had three attempts and Wells added two more shots.
Junior Bryson Reed finished with two saves in the contest, while sophomore Cooper Clark had one in the shutout.
