SWOSU women’s golf chosen 2nd

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Southwestern Oklahoma State University women’s golf team has been tabbed to finish second in the Great American Conference for the 2018-19 season according to a poll of the league coaches.

The conference office announced the preseason poll on Thursday afternoon.

Arkansas Tech is the unanimous preseason favorite to win the conference after receiving all eight potential first-place votes and 64 total points. SWOSU picked up the lone other first-place vote and totaled 55 points to edge out Henderson State for the second spot.

The Bulldogs are coming off a second-place finish in the GAC Championships a season ago along with a sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships.

Head coach Brad Fleetwood returns four all-conference selections from last year’s team in first teamers Gloria Choi and Elin Wahlin along with Chloe Thackeray (Second Team) and Jenna Eidem (Honorable Mention).

SWOSU will begin the season at the Central Region Preview on Sept. 4 in Olathe, Kan. at the Prairie Highlands Golf Course.
