RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – A poll of the 12 head coaches in the Great American Conference has picked the SWOSU volleyball team to finish sixth in the league during the 2018 season.
SWOSU earned 67 points in the poll, which was good enough for a top-half finish and three points ahead of Ouachita in seventh.
Defending conference champion Arkansas Tech is the preseason pick to repeat after claiming 10 first-place votes, while Harding claimed the other two and is picked to take second.
Oklahoma Baptist, Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene ranked directly ahead of the Bulldogs, while Ouachita, Henderson State, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Arkansas-Monticello, East Central and Southern Arkansas rounded out the rankings.
Head coach Josh Collins welcomes back an experienced group with 12 upperclassmen on the roster for the 2018 season, including three returning starters in Kodee Avery, Addie Aman and Danusia Sipa Borgeaud.
The Bulldogs also have an All-Great American Conference libero returning in Kaitlyn Dillon, who set a new single-season school record with 685 digs as a sophomore.
SWOSU volleyball reports to campus this weekend before holding their first practices of the season on Monday. The first chance for Bulldog volleyball fans to see the team in action will be the Blue/White Scrimmage, which is set for Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
