KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced Wednesday the sixth annual Team Academic Excellence Awards, created by the NABC Committee on Academics, and SWOSU men’s basketball was one of more than 185 schools from the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA levels to earn the honor.
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2017-18 season. In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s student-athletes who competed during the 2017-18 season.
This marks the second Team Academic Excellence Award for the Bulldogs, who previously earned the honor for the 2014-15 season. SWOSU was one of three teams from the Great American Conference to claim the award, joining East Central and Henderson State.
