WEATHERFORD– The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Athletic Department, in conjunction with the Office of Institutional Advancement, has announced the hiring of Kayla McQuillan as the Bulldogs’ new Athletics Advancement Coordinator.

“We are delighted that Kayla McQuillan has joined the SWOSU family as Athletic Advancement Coordinator,” said Garrett King, Assistant to the President & Director of Institutional Advancement. “SWOSU and the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. are working hard to increase private investment in our student-athletes via scholarship and departmental support and to increase engagement with the wider athletic alumni community. Mrs. McQuillan will play an important part in this undertaking in partnership with our generous Athletic Association members and Directors.”

In her role, McQuillan will work daily with the Advancement and Athletic teams to deliver in important operational areas and in carrying out special projects and initiatives that strengthen our athletic programs and our university overall. She is directly responsible for the formulation and execution of Athletic fundraising strategies and will oversee the delivery of services to the SWOSU Athletic Association.

“The Athletic Advancement Coordinator position is very crucial to the success of our Athletic Department and we couldn’t be happier to have Kayla McQuillan joining our team,” SWOSU Athletic Director Todd Thurman said. “She is excited to get to work and she will be a great addition to our university.”

McQuillan comes to SWOSU with seven years of high school teaching and coaching experience, most recently at Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she was the varsity volleyball coach for the past two seasons. She also served two years as the junior varsity coach at Central following a three-year stint at Riverside High School in Wathena, Kansas.

“I’m so thankful to the SWOSU Athletic Department and the Foundation for giving me the opportunity to expand my career at SWOSU,” McQuillan said. “Everyone in the community has been very welcoming and they have made me feel right at home here in Weatherford. I am thrilled to start my adventure as a Bulldog!”

A native of El Dorado Springs, Missouri., McQuillan earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Missouri Western State University in 2011. She resides in Weatherford with her husband, Colin, who is the Defensive Coordinator for the Bulldog football team.
