RiverHawks’ Watson named to Starting XI

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.– Northeastern State’s Ben Watson has been selected a member of the National Premier Soccer League’s (NPSL) National XI for the 2018 season.

Watson, while playing for the Little Rock Rangers this summer is one of three defenders in the national league that features 98 squads to earn the award.  The Rangers won the Heartland Conference Championship and were the South Region Finalists after beating top-ranked Laredo Heat SC, 2-1 to advance to the NPSL Elite 8.

Additionally, Watson was named to the Heartland Conference Starting First XI, and was voted as a member of the South Region Starting XI.

A junior for the RiverHawks this fall, Watson was a member of a NSU men’s soccer squad that won the NCAA Central Region Title last season.

The NPSL takes place during the summer months, and the player pool is drawn mainly from NCAA college soccer players seeking to continue playing high level soccer during their summer break, while still maintaining their college eligibility.
