TAHLEQUAH– A Muskogee native has signed to play near home for Northeastern State, men’s head basketball coach Mark Downey announced on Saturday.
Aaron Givens, a 6-10, junior forward had multiple NCAA Division I offers out of Seminole State College where he played during his first two years of eligibility. As a sophomore, he averaged nearly a double-double per game, and over three rebounds per game on the offensive glass. Givens was a First Team All-OCAC selection last season, averaging 65-percent shooting on the floor, with 1.5 blocks per game.
“Aaron is an extremely long post player can really run the floor and cover ground with his length,” said Downey. “He gives us a rim protector in the paint which will allow us to extend our defense and put more pressure on the ball. Aaron is skilled with the ball, has great hands, and will play above the rim.”
“We are excited that Aaron will be wearing green this year and playing in front of his family and friends at NSU. He is fills a void that we did not have last year in the paint.”
