Lady Bulldogs open 2018-19 season ranked

WEATHERFORD–The reigning Great American Conference Champion SWOSU Women’s Basketball team will open the 2018-19 season as a ranked team, coming in at No. 20 in the Women’s Basketball Coaches preseason poll and No. 13 in the D2SIDA poll.

The Lady Bulldogs also finished the 2017-18 season ranked No. 20 by the WBCA after a season that ended with a record of 26-5 and a berth in the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships. SWOSU used a 15-game winning streak during the regular season to set a new single-season program high for wins as an NCAA institution and win their first regular season GAC Championship.

SWOSU welcomes back all five starters from last year’s team, led by Central Region Player of the Year Hailey Tucker, the two-time reigning GAC Player of the Year. Joining Tucker is returning All-Central Region selection Hayden Priddy and reigning GAC Defensive Player of the Year Tyra Aska. The Lady Bulldogs are led by 10th-year Head Coach Kelsi Musick, a three-time GAC Coach of the Year who has led her team to three straight 20-win seasons and five overall in her tenure.

SWOSU Women’s Basketball opens the season at the GAC / MIAA Crossover in Shawnee facing Emporia State (Nov. 9) and Missouri Southern (Nov. 10).
