Hillcat cross country announces schedule

CLAREMORE–The Rogers State men’s and women’s cross country teams announced its schedules for the 2018 season.

Entering their ninth season of competition and fifth year in the Heartland Conference, the Hillcats take part in four regular season events – the same four events the women’s team competed in during the 2017 season – before the Heartland Conference Championship, where the men’s team looks to repeat as league champions. The Cats end the season with the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championship with a chance to advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship. The Hillcat men made the NCAA National Championship last season in Evansville, Indiana and finished 26th overall.

The 2018 season starts on Sept. 1 at the UCO Land Run in Edmond, Okla. The event will mark the seventh-straight time the navy and red starts the season at the meet.

After a week off, RSU travels to Joplin, Missouri for the Southern Stampede hosted by Missouri Southern on Sept. 15.

The Hillcats go to Kentucky for the second straight season to run in the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Sept. 29 in Louisville, Kentucky.

After the trip to Louisville, RSU competes at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open on Oct. 13. The event takes place in Victoria, Kansas about 10 miles east of the FHSU campus in Hays, Kansas.

The Hillcat men look to defend their conference title at the Heartland Conference Championship on Nov. 3 in Laredo, Texas, hosted by Texas A&M International. The Cats won by one point over Dallas Baptist in 2017 at the league championship.

The navy and red run in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Championship on Nov. 17 in Denver, Colorado.

The NCAA Division II National Championship is set for Dec. 1 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
