WEATHERFORD–Exhibition basketball season is off to a strong start after the SWOSU men’s basketball team held off Oklahoma City 101-97 in a shootout on Wednesday evening at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in Weatherford.
In his debut as a Bulldog, junior guard Tre Evans poured in 43 points on 10-of-17 shooting while dishing out eight assists and grabbing five rebounds. Senior forward Cheikh Fall added a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds in his SWOSU debut while Jamar Sandifer chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.
SWOSU shot 41.1% (30-73) from the field and knocked down eight three-point attempts. The Bulldogs also did a high portion of their scoring at the stripe, knocking down 33-of-45 (73.3%) free throw attempts, including 20-for-23 shooting from Evans.
Wednesday’s contest was the lone exhibition for the Bulldogs, who open the regular season on November 9-10 at the GAC / MIAA Challenge in Tahlequah, where they will face Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma.
