Drillers’ pitcher picks up honor

TULSA– For the second consecutive week, a Tulsa Drillers starting pitcher has been named Texas League Pitcher of the Week.

Dean Kremer received the honor for the week of July 2 – July 8 following his dominant start on July 4 against the Midland RockHounds.

In that outing, the right-hander started the second game of a doubleheader and picked up the victory in a complete game shutout. He went seven strong innings and gave up only three hits while striking out 11.

It was Kremer’s first start of the season for the Drillers after being called up from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. In 16 starts with the Quakes, Kremer was 5-3 with a 3.30 ERA. After his first start with the Drillers, he is 1-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA.

Kremer is the fourth Driller to receive a Texas League honor this season. Last week, Logan Bawcom received Texas League Pitcher of the Week, Drew Jackson won Texas League Player of the Week in May, and Justin De Fratus was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week after the first week of the season.
