University of Oklahoma golfer Brad Dalke qualified for the round of 64 match play at the 118th U.S. Amateur on Tuesday. The competition is taking place at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California.
Dalke finished the second round of stroke play in a tie for 19th place with an overall 143 (E). The rising senior posted a 73 (+1) during Monday’s opening round before posting a 70 (-1) during Tuesday’s action.
Out of a field consisting of over 300 of some of the world’s best amateur golfers, the top 64 finishers in stroke play advance to the match play bracket.
This is the second time in the last three years Dalke has advanced to the match play competition at the U.S. Amateur. In 2016, Dalke particpated in the championship match at the event at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
The Sooners were also represented by Quade Cummins, Garett Reband and Patrick Welch at the U.S. Amateur. Reband posted a 36-hole total of 148 (+4) to tie for 64th place and will compete on Wednesday in a 24-for-1 playoff to determine the final match play spot. The playoff will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT.
Cummins finished tied for 166th at 153 (+9), while Welch claimed a share of 257th place with a two-round 157 (+15).
The round of 64 matches will be televised on FS1 from 4-7 p.m. CT, and more information about the competition can be found on the USGA’s website.
