Shippy named softball scholar-athlete

IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 announced its Spring Scholar-Athlete of the Year award winners Thursday, and Oklahoma State’s Vanessa Shippy was honored as the softball recipient for the second-consecutive year. Shippy is the first Big 12 softball player to receive the distinction more than once since the award was established during the 2012-13 academic year. An 18-year run in Norman that produced a school-record 190 wins, 10 Big 12 titles, a national championship, 37 first-team All-Americans and two Heisman Trophy winners had come to an abrupt end.
