STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women’s tennis players Vladica Babic and Sofia Blanco have been named to the 2018 ITA Collegiate All-Star team, the organization announced Monday. The ITA Collegiate All-Star Team honors the top student-athletes of the 2017-18 season from all five divisions of college tennis.
The ITA Collegiate All-Star Team features the nation’s top-ranked men’s and women’s players from the year-end Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, in addition to winners of the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships and 2018 NCAA Division I and III Championships.
Babic and Blanco became the first OSU doubles team since 1991 to attain All-America status during their run to the NCAA Individual Championships doubles final last month.
The OSU tandem finished at 31-9 overall with a 16-3 dual record. The two Cowgirls knocked off 16 ranked opponents over the course of the season, including wins over No. 7 Berg/Cline (South Carolina), No. 1 Fahey/Najarian (Michigan), No. 9 Pairone/Jeanjean (Arkansas), No. 18 Aney/Graham (North Carolina) and No. 21 Federici/Dvorak (Texas Tech).
The two Pokes also knocked off No. 17 Anna Danilina and Victoria Emma (Florida), No. 23 Lauren Proctor and Megan Kauffman (Winthrop), and No. 9 Ellyse Hamlin and Kaitlyn McCarthy (Duke) during their postseason run to the finals.
